Title: Return of the Entertainers Post by: XVentura on October 24, 2005, 06:35:58 AM Ha-****ing-ha for all the 'football-is-boring' comments. Take that. I'm actually glad our defence is quite pathetic (collectively) because it forces us to play open expansive and attacking football. We had lots of good passing movements especially down the left and at the start of the second half I remember us dominating. Sad though that we had to resort to a lot of long balls to Shearer and Ameobi but still, we played some good attacking football which is certainly an improvement on previous performances. And how good was that football game? Souness should try to instill this kind of passion and determination into the players for all the games because we really did play with determination, especially when they levelled. Good game all round. Welcome back the Entertainers.
Title: Re: Return of the Entertainers Post by: BlueStar on October 24, 2005, 07:06:50 AM I dunno about a "Good game all round", in all round good games I'm not on the verge of soiling my pants for 20 minutes. We really need to concentrate after scoring, and we still can't adjust our game to a defensive one and look comfortable. Maybe we just need to keep attacking for 90 minutes!
Title: Re: Return of the Entertainers Post by: XVentura on October 24, 2005, 07:21:52 AM Haha I meant 'good game all round' as good entertainment all round. I could never live with 1-0 victories/losts. '3-2's and '4-3's are much much more fun to watch. And you have to admit, after holding your breath for 20 minutes, it does feel damn good when the referee blows the final whistle. I hate it when we lead 3 or 4 nil and we just pass the ball around like that. I'm not saying I don't like it when we lead like that, just don't like the way we play when that does happen. Prefer the way we play when our backs are against the wall, it unites the team in a way which is great fun to watch.

but agreed - i prefer watching an attacking newcastle side - and the exitement of these matches is unbelievable, and so is the relief when the ref blow the whistle with emre, solano, owen, zoggy in the side i'm sure we haven't seen the last bit of attacking football this season. Title: Re: Return of the Entertainers Post by: jackyboy on October 24, 2005, 09:00:24 AM The entertainers? you must be on drugs. It is also an insult to the Keegan years to call this team of Souness's the entertainers
Title: Re: Return of the Entertainers Post by: XVentura on October 24, 2005, 09:23:51 AM Well I see you're quite the eternal optimist...
Was clutching at straws I admit but still, it was a FUN game to watch. Better than any other game this season so I'm proclaiming the return of the Entertainers not because they (we) are truly back, but because I sincerely HOPE this performance will make Souness and the boys realize that the crowd loves it and thus they will try to play more expansive open and attacking football. Title: Re: Return of the Entertainers Post by: Gosport Toon on October 24, 2005, 09:40:41 AM Souness has bought players like Owen, Luque, Solano, Emre and kept Dyer on so that we can play quick attacking football but we couldn't play when left with only Faye, Clark, Parker and Shearer due to the injuries
