Title: Player Ratings Post by: Shak on October 23, 2005, 04:24:07 PM Given 6 - Couldn't have done much about either of the goals. Made a good reflex save early in the first half when it just treakled by the post.
Carr 7 - Will like playing with Solano. Got forward very well first half. Alright defensively, still makes me nervous though. Ramage 8 - Well done to the lad. First game of the season and did himself proud. Positionally very good and looks a lot better than Elliot. Boumsong 5 - All over the place. Very shakey performance. Taylor 8 - Boumsong's poor performance made Taylor's performance all the more impressive. Held the defence together and made one massively crucial interception with the ball goal-bound. N'Zogbia 7 - Worked very hard and put in a nice cross for Ameobi's second. Lucky not to give away what would have been a disastorous penalty. Parker 7 - Worked very hard, had a ridiculous booking given against him. Was left on his own at times by Emre, and did alright. Emre 8.5 - Didn't track back as well as he could which did leave us exposed at times. However, more than makes up for it going forward. Absolute class on the ball, set pieces were superb, he beat people with ease, and capped it off with a stunning goal. Great game, could be a real legend here. Solano 7.5 - Was our most important player in the first half, got on the ball very well and dictated play, linking up with Carr very well. Lack of fitness cought up with him second half, but it's fantastic to have him back. Shearer 5 - Hate to give him a 5, but he was awful today. Hardly involved, looked off the pace, didn't close down the opposition. Will be useful as a sub, but can't play full games often. Ameobi 9 - Yes, a 9, Ameobi. Fantatsic performance, really awesome from a man many, including myself, had virtually written off after Wigan last week. Linked up the play very well, closed down his opponents, tracked back, and scored two great goals. Won the free for Emre's goal and was a constant threat. My man of the match. This is the time for Shola to stand up and be counted. He needs to play like this regularly. None of the subs were on long enough to really rate, Chopra was anonimous, Faye almost gifted them a goal, Clark did well. Souness 7 - We were getting pulled apart in the second half at times, did very little to correct that. Unless Shola was injured it was a joke to take him off instead of Shearer, as Shola was the only one holding the ball up well, hence the late pressure we endured. However, 95% of this board would have started with Chopra instead of Shola, Souness deserves credit for what was ultimately a right decision. Ramage too vindicated his selection with a fine performance. So credit to Graeme, did OK overall. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Geordie Boot Boy on October 23, 2005, 04:27:43 PM Given 6
Carr 6 Ramage 7 Boumsong 5 Taylor 8 Solano 8 N'Zogbia 7 Emre 8 Parker 6 Shearer 5 Ameobi 8 for me Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: sportnet on October 23, 2005, 04:31:01 PM same, but ameobi sould get 8 - this man cant pass, dosent have ball control and speed, but seems like he can tackle and use his head correctly

I think you're wrong either way. At times he still took too long on the ball and had it nicked off him, that was the only part of his game I could fault today. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Wiley on October 23, 2005, 04:38:12 PM Given-6
Never had a great deal to do,and couldnt do anything in reality about the 2 goals, unfortunate. Carr-6 Average performance by carr in the second-half,but his first half was very good, overlapping solano and swinging crosses in,lacks defensive edge though! Boumsong-4 A pretty woeful overall display by the 8 MIllion man, nervous, lacked concentration and just overall sloppyness bluecry.gif Taylor-7 Once again the local boy could hold his head high after another solid performance, solid, good in the air and saved our skins at the death, well in son! Solano-7 Clearly rusty, not overall unexpected that he faded in the second half, but played well enough in the first half to grant a good rating! Parker-7 Control centre of our midfield really, solid, relaxed and tried to play fluent football in the midfield and made some important tackles as ever, another good performance top add to all his others! Emre-9 I cannot understand how we got this guy for 3.8 Million, absolutely fantastic to see little emre back,he changes the game,he creates,he passes,he shoots, hes a great player and everything we need right now, peach of a goal, overall my MOTM! N,zogbia-6.5 Good service first half, tracking back aswell, second half he completely faded and nearly gave away a penalty with a clumbsy challenge! Shearer-5 Good in the air as ever, didnt really offer anything else really bluecry.gif Shola-8.5 Fantastic ALL ROUND performance from shola,he tracked back, tackled and fighted for the ball, scored to great headers too, well in today ameobi, you've proved a few wrong today, including me! Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Sifu on October 23, 2005, 04:38:59 PM For me:
Given 6: Nothing much he could have done about the goals Carr 6: Steady performance Taylor 8: A good performance, prevented a potential goal near the end Boumsong 5 : Lost the ball in dangerous positions at times Ramage 8 : Good performance at left back, good defending Solano 7: Still short of match fitness but played well today, made some good passes. Parker 7: Worked hard throughout the match. He received a rather harsh yellow card Emre 8: Like Solano, lacking a bit of match practice, but his contribution attacking wise was excellent. Great goal from the free kick N'Zogbia 7: Good performance on the wing, good delivery for the 2nd goal Shearer 5: Apart from the early shot he had, he didn't really have a great influence on the game Ameobi 8.5: A much better performance in this game compared to recent. Worked hard throughout. Well Done Shola. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: decky on October 23, 2005, 04:41:17 PM Heres what i thought:
Shay Given - Didnt makeany major saves but saved the defence embarrassment and showed good thinking skills when he constantly came out of his net and cleared - My rating: 8/10 Steven Carr - retired from Ireland and said he wants to concentrate on Newcastle and he has done. Steven has had a dodgy start this season but is coming into form, he made good forward runs and worked well with Solano, for me he played a good part in this win - My rating: 8/10 Steven Taylor - was the rock of the defence, the lad was brilliant, he was making forward runs time and time again, running into good space on a few occasions, he saved us from a draw towards the end, he DID play a HUGE part in this win - My rating: 9/10 Boumsong - terrible! more mistakes and defenders where running pas him time and time again, he was skint by Elliot who went onto score, he is showing why people are turning on him, when Bramble is fit he MUST play - My rating: 5/10 Ramage - fantastic move by Souness inputting this lad ahead of Elliot, he was solid and always got in front of balls to prevent crosses, made runs and worked well with N'Zogbia, should play when Babayaro isnt fit and who knows maybe play when Baba is fit - My rating: 8/10 Solano - brilliant game for Nolberto, he hasnt played in months and isnt to full fitness, he gave us an hour of quaity football and proved to us all why we should miss him when he is out. Made runs constantly and provided brilliant balls into the box on many occasions - My rating: 9/10 Parker - was solid as usual but wasnt the star of the show, possibly because he was booked which he shouldnt have been, made an excellent tackle late in the game and was rock solid, Scott is key for us and he showed that AGAIN today - my rating: 8/10 Emre - Scored the winner, make runs and was a nightmare for the mackem defence, had a great shot early in the game, like Solano he isnt fully fit but showed signs of getting there, sponser motm and deserved it, took a lot of knocks abotu 4 or 5 in total and skill got up to give 110% - My rating - 9/10 N'Zogbia - was very quiet at times but when he had the ball he was active and made some quality runs, set Ameobi up for the 2nd goal, Charles had a good game and once again showed signs of improvement - My rating: 7/10 Shearer - layed on balls wonder fully like he has been doing all season, played on the right side a lot and provided many crosses, the captain did a good job today for the club and the fans - My rating: 8/10 Ameobi - what can i say, the man of the moment, he certainly proved himself to me and many others, you have seen my posts this week on the lad and he has bitten back, played very well and deserved the man of the match award- My rating: 9/10 Clark, Faye and Chopra came on and made little impact as they played defensive roles, Faye made a terrible mistake and when having a fully fit squad shouldnt even make the bench. A good and well deserved win for us at last, nothing like beating the mackems. we are now 12th, if Middlesbrough lose we go 11th so i have no complaints, well done Graeme and well done Newcastle United. Carr - 7 Boumsong - 6 Taylor - 8 Ramage - 7 Solano - 7 Emre - 8 Parker - 7 N'Zogbia - 7 Shearer - 5 Ameobi - 8 Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Paul Mosley on October 23, 2005, 04:53:46 PM Given - 6 - Not a lot he could do with the goals. Distribution better.
Carr - 7 - Good show, has to be better with Solano infront of him now. Boumsong - 5 - Heart attack time, very very shaky again. Taylor - 9 - A complete rock. His celebration afterwards said it all. Ramage - 8 - Gave a very good performance, better than Robbie Elliott could have dreamt of. Solano - 7 - Lacking in match practice, but showed his quality. Parker - 6 - Not as good as he has been, sloppy in possession a few times. Emre - 8 - Good show, fantastic free kick, instant hero status. N'Zogbia - 7 - Decent display from Charlie. Shearer - 5 - Not at his best. Ameobi - 9 - Gerrin there son. Chopra - 5 - No real effect. Clark - 5 - See Chopra. Faye - 0 - Are you kidding me? Brittain sitting on the bench would have been a better bet. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Bowyer4eva86 on October 23, 2005, 05:20:47 PM given 6 - ok
carr 5 - awful passing Boumsong 4 - im sick of this shit Taylor 7 - decent enough, but stop patronising people with the celebrations Ramage 6 - ok but lets hope he doesnt play again for a while solano 6 - not match fit but ok creatively parker 8 - well up for it, solid Emre 8 - what a goal, what a player he looks N'zogbia 5 - looked poor except for the goal Ameobi 8 - my mom, 2 goals in 7 minutes wtf!!!! Shearer 4 - worst performance by him i have ever seen, sorry Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Andy on October 23, 2005, 05:53:49 PM DERBY MATCHDAY PLAYER RATINGS EXTRAORDINAIRE:
Given - 6 - Okay, but FAULTY at times Ramage - 7 - Rock-solid BRICK-WALL-LIKE performance by the young ginger battler Carr - 6 - OK at the back, crossing is a shambolic MESS at times though. Taylor - 8 - Pathetically IMMENSE performance; saved the day with his DASTARDLY goal line clearance late on. Boumsong - 4 - Idiotically shaky, and frankly INEPT display by the clumsy French goon. N'Zogbia - 6 - Huffed, puffed and his cross for Shola blew the house down. GOOD DISPLAY all round from the cool haired maestro. Solano - 7 - Some WONDEROUS touches from the Peruvian hero. Emre - 8 - MAGIC display of class throughout. To be honest, those who said he was shit before he signed clearly need their head seeing to. Parker - 6 - UNINSPIRED display of backwards and sideways passing by the cheeky cockney wideboy in the centre. Shearer - 5 - As ineffective as ever. Ameobi - n/a - Apparently Shola was replaced by a player with ABILITY prior to kick off, so it would be unfair to judge. SUBS: Chopra - 5 - NO IMPACT Clarke - 6 - NOT MUCH IMPACT Faye - 4 - OH DEAR GOD ABOVE HIGH FIVE! Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: pudmag on October 23, 2005, 06:13:11 PM Given 7. Was unlucky with the first goal, couldn`t do anything about the second.
Ramage 6. Solid enough, big improvement on Elliot. Boum 3 Bloody woeful. WTF is going on with him?? Does he have a clone?? Taylor 8 Solid, great clearance of the line. Carr 6. Slight improvement overall. Passing still dodgy at times. Zog 6 Ran his socks off. Emre 9 My MOM. Quality performance, but doesn`t track back enough though. Solano 7 Faded in the second half, but great to see him back, played well. Parkker 6 a little shaky, not one of his better games Shearer 5 Anonymous. Ameobi 8 Can`t find fault really. Two fine goals, and a good all round performance. Subs. Faye 3. God above i shit myself everytime he plays. Inept. Clark 6.Solid enough. chopra 3. See Shearer above. BTW, have sunlun done the crossbar challenge yet?? Reckon they`d do well.... Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: [bsp] on October 23, 2005, 06:16:57 PM Boumsong, Shearer and Faye all 2/10. The rest a nice mix of sevens and eights.
Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Optimistic Nut on October 23, 2005, 07:22:44 PM Given 6 - No chance with either goal
Carr 7 - Good work for second goal Ramage 8 - What a performance Boumsong 6 - Not bad Taylor 7 - Solid, could have scored Solano 7 - Showed his quality N'Zogbia 7 - Lively Emre 8 - Class act Parker 6 - Average Shearer 6 - Not many chances Ameobi 8 - Best performance since Leverkusen Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Shak on October 23, 2005, 07:29:22 PM Quote from: Optimistic Nut on October 23, 2005, 07:22:44 PM Shearer 6 - Not many chances But he didn't get involved at all. He can't just sit there waiting for chances to come, we'll never do anything if we're carrying him which, sad as it is to say, we are having to do more and more these days. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Toon_Crazy on October 23, 2005, 07:41:01 PM Given-6
Carr-7 Boumsong-6 Taylor-7.5 Ramage-7.5 Solano-8.5, we have missed him, looked excellent and he was not fit Parker-7- played with a dead leg, top guy Emre-8.5-superb free kick, makes us look like a completly different side N'Zogbia-7.5- well played, some good stuff Ameobi-9-excellent, did it all. I am not a fan but he was very good Shearer-6 Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Tom_NUFC on October 23, 2005, 08:02:10 PM Given - 7: A good performance
Carr - 7: Played well. He's been looking better recently Ramage - 7: Inexperienced and out of position, but he did a fine job Boumsong - 4: Awful. He's a good player but I don't know what's happened this season Taylor - 8: Very good Nobby - 8: It was a pleasure to have him back. We've missed him and his performance today showed that. Looks to have an understanding with Parker and Emre already. Tired towards the end but that's understandable. Welcome home Zog - 7: Worked hard. His pace was a nuisance to Sunderland Parker - 7: Looked solid and comfortable Emre - 9: Brilliant. Always a threat. Worked his socks off. MOTM well deserved Shola - 7: F*cking hell Shola - 2 goals! He played well today, although at times he still seemed to lack awareness Shearer - 6: Not as much of a threat up front, but he can win balls and his presence and experience was important. He also defended well when needed SUBS: (none of them were on that long, so a rating doesn't seem right) Clark - Reliable as ever Faye - Wasn't bad for the time he was on Chopra - Didn't do that much but didn't really have time to Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Adam^ on October 23, 2005, 11:27:47 PM Emre 11/10
Shola 10 Nobby 8 Taylor 8 Zoggy 8 parker 8 ( gets stuck in good lad) Rest give em a 6 or 7 , we won i dont care if boom is crap , salvation has cometh Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: kenneth_loh on October 24, 2005, 01:13:11 AM Given - 7. Did what he had to, without being particularly spectacular.
Carr - 7. Combined well with Solano down the flank, caught out defensively occasionally though. Taylor - 8. Solid in defence, great blocks with his knee and foot. Attacked well, showed some pretty good runs and had a good shot on target which Davis was bloody lucky to save. Boumsong - 6. We all know he's capable of better, failed to track his man properly occasionally, nearly gave away another goal. However, was able to muscle the scum off the ball most of the time. Ramage - 8. Had a few decent crosses, showed willingness to attack. While in defence, as solid as any of the others. Great blocks with his face and chest in succession which must have hurt, yet he got up immediately to continue playing. That's what we love to see. Solano - 7. It's good to have a real winger back on the right. The difference SHOWED clearly and Solano carved many attacking opportunities with his excellent passing. Parker - 7. A solid performance as usual. Uncharacteristically gave away the ball a couple of times however. Emre - 9. My man of the match. Was the driving force in midfield. Both creative and tenacious although he didn't track back as often as we would have liked, I think of it as "defending from the front". Spectacular free kick, such confidence to take such a vital kick in a match like this. N'Zogbia - 7. Good hook back for Ameobi, but lacked that special quality today. Seemed rather indecisive. Nearly gave away a penalty (and it *should have been* a penalty). Shearer - 6. The knockdowns were fantastic, but his legs are clearly giving way. Should be used as a supersub. However, Souness may have decided to field him for his leadership qualities, vital in a derby. Ameobi - 9. Fantastic performance. The headers were both extremely fine, although the first was more due to poor defending by the scum. Often won the ball up front, and I think I saw a spectacular sliding tackle from behind in midfield to initiate another counterattack. My only complaint is that he takes too long on the ball. Chopra - 5. Largely anonymous. Faye - 3. Dreadful. Looked more likely to lose rather than defend our lead. Clark - 6. Did his part. Souness - 7. Lucky to have been proven right by Ameobi. Ramage instead of Elliot was an excellent decision (although commonsense for most of us). Shearer should have been subbed off earlier, although reportedly we had to make the 3 substitutions we did because of injury (minor niggles here and there). I was disappointed with our performance in the 2nd half as we really let Sunderland back into the game more than anything with the team's attitude and I blame Souness for making me bite my nails. We really should have tried to kill them off with a fourth goal. It's scumderland, dammit! Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: jmveness on October 24, 2005, 01:24:22 AM bluelaugh.gif
Faye - 0 - Are you kidding me? Brittain sitting on the bench would have been a better bet. Quote: Aye! or Alan O'Brien for that matter. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: Northern Monkey on October 24, 2005, 09:16:48 AM Given - 6 - Beaten by two good goals, rarely tested otherwise.
Carr - 7 - Actually showed good control, better. Boumsong - 4 Poor. NOT an £8m player, Souness. Taylor - 8 - Genuine talent. Needs better players alongside him. Ramage - 7 - Positionally astute, good forward movement. Better than Elliot, more heart than Babayaro Solano - 7 - Rusty, but how much have we missed a player with passing ability and vision?? Parker - 6 - Occasionally sloppy, but a good player, full of effort. Emre - 7 - Good goal, possibly exposed Parker at times, but he's not a defensive midfielder, in his defence. N'Zogbia - 7 - Got stuck in, seems to be getting stronger. Shearer - 5 - Very, very average. Ameobi - 8 - Thankyou for the goals, but got robbed too often, and has poor ball control in general. Chopra - 5 - Appears to weigh 4 stone. Not going to make it. Clark - 5 - Chased the ball down at the end of the match. Enraged Mackems. Faye - -10 - NOT A PREMIERSHIP PLAYER. Teh fact that this man gets wages, never mind cost 7 figures, is an affront to every single match-going fan. Souness - 7 - Got us a much-needed Derby win. Would have been higher if he actually had a clue what to do tactically. Please leave now. Title: Re: Player Ratings Post by: il Fenomeno numero [5] on October 24, 2005, 02:25:08 PM Northern Monkey,
