Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dragon55544 on March 06, 2007, 08:07:30 PM boo. that was a shocking tackle from Sissoko to give that freekick away. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dave on March 06, 2007, 08:32:00 PM How disappointing are Barca? 10-1 Liverpool on shots, they really need to buck their ideas up to not go out with a whimper.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Legacy on March 06, 2007, 08:36:34 PM How disappointing are Barca? 10-1 Liverpool on shots, they really need to buck their ideas up to not go out with a whimper. Very... I was hoping for a good show from Barca (I don't get to see them much). Something that strikes me is the lack of movement from the front 3 and at times Barca seemed to be playing "if you get the ball give it to messi even if he's surrounded by 3 players". Was good to see Ronnie finally run with the ball even though Eto'o messed it up. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Newcastle Fan on March 06, 2007, 08:37:39 PM Scary game tbh
Both team are playing with extreme caution Liverpool are REALLY unlucky not to be up,they deserve it tbh, fantastic tactical display and a really good peformence I Hear Chelski are losing to Porto,if they are knocked out expect the same that happend to Real Madrid to happen to them wich is: A)Sack a really decent manager who brings atleast a cup per seasom B)Sell Makalele C)Bring a c*** who don't know how to manage them, end up in a circle of stupid managers and bad heartless players.. If they win though they might go on to win it .. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Mike on March 06, 2007, 08:43:05 PM A)Sack a really decent manager who brings atleast a cup per seasom B)Sell Makalele C)Bring a c*** who don't know how to manage them, end up in a circle of stupid managers and bad heartless players.. Fingers crossed, right? Also, Lyon 0 - 2 Roma. Some result. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Mike on March 06, 2007, 08:48:06 PM All it takes is 2 chances. Not lost the faith just yet. Also, Lyon 0 - 2 Roma. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Mike on March 06, 2007, 08:49:17 PM No matter the result, I don't think I can name a better defender than Puyol.

Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dave on March 06, 2007, 09:30:47 PM They're not going to do this. Not good enough.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: CaliMag on March 06, 2007, 09:34:47 PM Here's what I want - Barca to score again play to pens against liverpool and knock them out of the competition in the most heartbreaking fashion possible whilst injuring several key players (bellamy, Kuyt Gerrard) for the rest of the season.
Does this make me a bad person?* *(Only Stevie is allowed to answer this question) Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dave on March 06, 2007, 09:35:36 PM Barca out. How disappointing, but they've been proper rubbish over the two legs.
Gifted it to Liverpool tbh. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Mike on March 06, 2007, 09:35:56 PM Damn...Now I have to sit here and watch Chelsea progress as well. Sour ass day.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: CaliMag on March 06, 2007, 09:36:31 PM gutted
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Karjala on March 06, 2007, 09:37:19 PM Just watched Val-Inter here in Sweden. Inter deservedly knocked out, were dirty all nght. Game ends, huge brawl in center circle, people kicking each other, studs up... not nice scenes, typical italians.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Decky on March 06, 2007, 09:38:01 PM Liverpool have the best home fans in England and one of the best in europe, the scarfs at the end was amazing

Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: scottass on March 06, 2007, 09:41:00 PM Fuckfuckfuck. Damn scousers.
A lack of showing up for the first half is what cost Barcelona. Rijkaard has to take some of the blame, too. Eto'o on the left was a mistake, then subbing him for Giuly(who can't cross or shoot.. can't do anything other than run) thus leaving no natural strikers on the pitch for a while. I do have to single out Steve Finnan, though. Never put a foot wrong all night and was the best player on the pitch. Also, I hate ITV more than I hate Liverpool. Biggest bunch of twats I've had the misfortune of hearing commentate a game. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Karjala on March 06, 2007, 09:41:45 PM Just watched Val-Inter here in Sweden. Inter deservedly knocked out, were dirty all nght. Thank f*** that barca are out, nearly shitted myself everytime they got the ball in the last 10 min's Now lets hope Man utd and Arsenal do the same,if anyone is going to win i sure hope its not a spanish or an italian team Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dave on March 06, 2007, 09:42:34 PM Just watched Val-Inter here in Sweden. No long balls whatsoever, always passing on the ground, slick footwork, weighted throughballs, confident defending, etc. Albiol and Ayala (as usual) get special mentions as well. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dave on March 06, 2007, 09:47:26 PM Funny as f*** tbh.
On Sky Sports 2 now. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Dave on March 06, 2007, 09:48:47 PM No surprise at all to see Materazzi involved.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Newcastle Fan on March 06, 2007, 09:48:54 PM Sissoko is f****** awful. He was Ameobi-esque tonight. I beg to differ thought he was class, with cutting barca's attacks,he did all the dirty work His only problem is that once he gets the ball he dosn't know what to do with it Thats why Liverpool have Alonso with him,Alonso can't tackle well but is a fantastic passer Both two work togther fantasticly tbh Finnan,Carragher,Gerrard played with fantastic spirit tonight,i wish we had players who play with such spirit in our team,.. that is funny as f***, there is pushing going on yeah but some random Valencia staff/player just legs it onto the pitch punches Burdisso square in the mouth and legs it. Inter basically chase the cheeky fucker into his dressing room and it all kicks off outside the dressing room. He didnt even break his stride, ;D apparantly is Navarro. (also, apparantly its GBH ;D) So funny, TBH. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: johnnypd on March 06, 2007, 09:51:56 PM Sissoko is f****** awful. He was Ameobi-esque tonight. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: nufc_geordie on March 06, 2007, 09:54:00 PM Thought Sissoko was immense tonight. Done the hard dirty work and then gave the ball to Alonso, Gerrard etc to play. Dissappointed with Gerrard, thought he didn't get into the game much. Tactically Benitez was awesome until that stupid decision to take Bellamy off nearly cost him the game. For years now it is evident that when English teams play in Europe with a high tempo and get in their faces the foreign teams don't stand a chance. Playing 1 upfront the last half an hour gave Barca more time and space and when they started picking their passes Liverpool looked in all sorts of bother.
All in all I'm glad them and Chelsea are through but could have went pear shaped. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Hatful Of Hollow on March 06, 2007, 09:54:15 PM Funny as f*** tbh. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Nate on March 06, 2007, 09:57:28 PM Finnan & Carragher were brilliant. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: dan b on March 06, 2007, 09:57:39 PM  What actually sparked it? inter being faggots. They probably took offence at a Valencia player smiling and decided to start handbags... mainly Burdisso/Stankovic I think. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: dan b on March 06, 2007, 10:01:30 PM pretty bad defending from Lyon for the first goal. Cris showing his true colours completely lost Totti for a simple headed goal. Mancini's goal was decent, he did about 4000 step overs to beat the defender before batting it in with his left peg. Also, fred stuck a nice elbow on Chivu... pretty god damn disgraceful.

Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: The Janitor on March 06, 2007, 10:14:44 PM Delighted to see Chelsea and Liverpool go through against their respective opposition. Also good to see that Valencia are in the next round. Just a shame that Lyon lost out to Roma in my eyes.
Personally, I hope that Arsenal, Man Utd and Celtic join them in the quarters as well, though I accept it's highly unlikely that the Hoops will score in Milan, let alone get a score-draw or a win. We still have to play Arsenal and Chelsea, so personally I hope we have to play them when they are in between two European games. i know scottish football is a different class, as we've seen from mr. boumsong but i thought stephen mc manus had an excellent game against top class opposition(goal aside which i put down to tiredness). see him play regularly in the spl aswell. good solid no nonsense defender. still only 24 anarl Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Karjala on March 07, 2007, 10:42:32 PM i fancy Bayern to win it this year.
Man U, AC Milan and Chelsea also have a class chance. Cant quite see Liverpool, Valencia, PSV and Roma having quite enough. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: kingdawson on March 07, 2007, 10:51:46 PM In order, i'd have it: Chelsea AC Milan Manchester United Valencia Roma Liverpool Bayern Munich PSV Eindhoven But not based on much. Liverpool - Valencia - Roma Chelsea Bayern - PSV AC Milan Milan will be at the bottom favorite because their shaky performance both league and europe Roma has a good chance also to win it... because they are already beat Lyon (the most dangerous team in europe) wth fine performance... i think the factor of winning this year Champion League is more on solid defending rather than attacking prowess :) Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Testa Mora on March 08, 2007, 01:40:56 AM I was convinced it was Lyon's turn this year :(. Bet up le spout.

Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: Skirge on March 08, 2007, 10:20:42 AM Alex does belong to Chelski and is at PSV on loan, only becuase they could not get a work permit for him over here. He is a class act, had an awesome game last night, I am sure Chelski will have him back as soon as thay can get his work permit.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: CoachHTT on March 08, 2007, 01:29:11 PM The English teams have to fancy their chances. Valencia are tactically sound and play good football but do they have the required temperament? AC Milan are a shadow of their former selves, an average team, with one or two top players like Kaka and Pirlo - up against any decent team with a good midfield and attack and they will struggle. Bayern, a strong and experienced side but they lack class in certain areas. PSV are workmanlike and defensively strong, but like Bayern lack class in certain areas. Roma are an oddball, they need their top players to perform to progress.
Liverpool, they will fancy themselves over two legs against anyone, where as Man Utd have a few extra gears no doubt. Chelsea are very strong too. If those three can avoid each other in the next round, they'll all go through in my opinion and I fancy Man Utd to win it or Liverpool. Bayern are the dark horses. Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: GeordieDazzler on March 08, 2007, 01:33:12 PM Roma have been terriffic this season, they'll give anyone a hard game, and if they draw an English side it gives ITV a chance to continute thier hate campaign against Totti.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: dan b on March 08, 2007, 01:43:07 PM not as terrific as the elimated Inter.
Title: Re: Champions League this week Post by: CoachHTT on March 08, 2007, 01:46:01 PM To be fair Totti is s****, and a cock to boot.
