Questions For Freddy Shepherd
By Newcastle-Online.com 05 May 2006
"Our supporters should know that there has been a great deal of interest in the position from an exciting list of coaches. One thing is for certain: we have a long list of candidates of the highest calibre to select from." - Freddy Shepherd, April 03 2006
One month ago Newcastle United Chairman Freddy Shepherd claimed there was a great deal of interest from a long list of what he described as high calibre managers, yet today Glenn Roeder admits he has been offered the job.
So...
What happened to that long list Freddy?
Either they turned us down, were never offered the job in the first place or you were lying. Either way, Newcastle fans need answers because this is all too disturbing.
If they did indeed turn us down, then surely you have failed to attract the right man, or the best man, which in turn means you haven't done your job properly?
If they weren't offered the job, then why? By using the words "high calibre" this suggests they had the skills and abilities to manage Newcastle yet the one man you do offer the job to, doesn't. Please explain that one?
The Journal were too kind, this isn't a farce, it stinks and the motive behind Glenn Roeder's impending appointment are dubious to say the least.
One has to wonder whether he is a babysitter for Alan Shearer, another person not qualified to manage a Premiership club never mind a PLC business to boot.
One also has to ask is Roeder 2nd, 3rd, 4th or even 5th choice? Again, this goes back to failing to attract the right man for the job... again!
Be it on your head, Freddy! |
