This evening's Tyneside football supplement 'The Scene' claims Newcastle
United will renew their interest in Manchester City defender Silvain
Distin who both Everton and Aston Villa are also rumoured
to be interested in.
Quotes attributed to Distin's agent:
"we held talks with Newcastle back in January and the player was very
keen to join Newcastle but the two club's couldn't agree a fee.
"Now though the club are happy to meet his valuation.
"I can confirm Slyvain has many admirers but having played at St.
James's on loan from PSG (Paris St. Germain) he has intimated to me,
that would be his preferred choice.
"I will speak with Graeme (Souness) later next week when he returns
from holiday and if things go well, things will look much clearer."
'The Scene' also suggest we are winning the race for Turkish midfielder
Emre and having already bought Scott Parker, it looks like Everton
could lose out to Newcastle on both fronts in a triple snub for the
Merseyside team.
