Newcastle-Online.com's Writer Of The Year 2005

Paul was given his 1st Newcastle strip for his birthday in February 1996, at the age of 8, despite knowing nothing about football. Euro 96 changed all that though, it made him finally sit up and take notice, and from then he was hooked.

Big Al coming home certainly helped that. He to his 1st match at St. James' Park on Easter Monday in 98, when Big Al's late header against Barnsley won us the game 2-1 and effectively confirmed our survival.

Paul went to every home game (bar Spurs in the League) last season (2004-05), as well as following the lads down to Cardiff. And he's managed to get his 1st season ticket for this campaign (Gallowgate End, where his Uncle's ashes were scattered in April 2005).

He has just recently qualified as one of the devil's sons (a referee!) and is about to move into his 2nd year of college - studying Maths and Business. He counts Big Al and Sir Bobby as 2 of his all-time heroes, being a wee whippersnapper of 17 meant he just caught the end of the 2nd Beardsley and Keegan eras.

Paul attends all reserve home games and will be reporting on the lads for Newcastle-Online.com among contributing with other aspects of the site such s the Referee Watch section, Player Rtings and History section. An all-rounder is wor Paul.

Paul was voted Newcastle-Online.com's writer of the year for 2005.
