Newcastle-Online.com Team: Howaythetoon

Howaythetoon was born and raised in the West End of Newcastle and at 25 now, he has been supporting Newcastle since 1993. Leaving school with no qualifications, odd jobs followed but it wasn't until a stint at Newcastle College to train to be a Joiner back in 2001 did HTT as he is sometimes known as, first discover the Internet.

And with it a passion for web design which he is now experienced at and works in the industry on a free-lance basis.

While on the web to satisfy a thirst for Toon transfer news he discovered a Newcastle United supporters message board called 'Nufc.nu' and after a few months of annoying the hell out of everyone with his lunatic levels of optimism and 10,000 word essays on NUFC matters, he took over the forum after a spate of hacks and threats of closure loomed.

Not long after Howaythetoon dumped the name and changed it to 'Howaythetoon.com' (hence the nickname). For a while things were good but the forum had suffered so he bolted a site to it and started writing news stories and match reports to generate discussion.

The forum picked up and the site grew in popularity before it was wiped off the internet in October 2004 for a breach of fixtures copyright law. Off-line for 4 months the site eventually returned.

But under a new name - Newcastle-Online.com - the result of a merger between Howaythtoon.com and Toon-Chat.co.uk, another Newcastle supporters forum which had also been shut down due to publishing fixtures.

Back bigger and stronger the merged site was completely revamped and launched in August 2005 and is home to the largest supporters forum on the web and is growing and growing every day.

Howaythetoon now takes more of a back seat with the actual content of the site, preferring to operate and maintain the delivery of content instead of producing it and writing it himself. Enabled thanks to a great team of contributors who write articles and reports. Though he does write a few lines now and again, but not as often as he once did.
