Report: Toon International Round-Up

Michael Owen scored his first goal for England as a Newcastle player last night as England ran out 2-1 winners against Poland in their final match of the qualifying group for the 2006 World Cup. Meaning Sven's men top the group. Owen also had a hand in the winner, scored by Frank Lampard.

There were no celebrations for Shay Given and Stephen Carr however. Needing a win, Ireland could only draw 0-0 at home to the Swiss, failiing to qualify for the World Cup.

Boumsong will be there though, playing the full 90 minutes of France's 4-0 win over Cyprus.

For Emre, Turkey will have to win a play-off match if they are to make Germany but good news for United, The Turkish playmaker played the second 45 of his country's 1-0 win over Albania, coming through unscathed. He could feature on Saturday.

All in all a successful international break for wor lot then, with no injuries to report of. Although Nobby, Babayaro, Dyer and Bramble will not be available for the Wigan match, as injuries at home continue to give us headaches.
