Big Sam, O'Neill & Hitzfeld The Fans Choice
First
batch of your e-mails now online!
Newcastle-Online have been inundated from Toon supporters expressing a
preferred choice of manager and judging from the hundreds of *e-mails
that we have received the 3 names most in favour are Celtic's Martin
O'Neill, Bolton's Sam Allardyce and Ottmar
Hitzfeld who is currently without a job. Other names that
are quite popular are Gordon Strachan, also without
a job and Charlton's Alan Curbishley. Some names
that haven't been mentioned also pop up - Vicente Del Bosque
the former Real Madrid manager and Claudio Ranieri.
Surprisingly Terry Venables hasn't had a look in...
.
Who Cares About Nationality - We Want A Winner
According to various sources today a couple of big name foreign
coaches such as World Cup winner Luiz Felipe Scolari
and Champions League winner Ottmar Hitzfeld have
thrown their hat into the ring but a club source has indicated that
Freddy Shepherd prefers a "British manager".
Nationality doesn't even come into it - we want a winner and if that
man happens to be German, Argentinian, English or whatever nationality
it doesn't matter.
P.S No Cockney managers...
El Tel In Toon
According to Sky Sports News former England boss Terry
Venables is in Newcastle having an interview for the vacant
Newcastle manager's job. One can only hope that the club have set
up an elimination process by interviewing prospective candidates.
I've already made my feelings known regarding the Car Salesman and
if the club were to replace Sir Bobby with such a shady character
there will be ructions in Toon.
He is a charlatan of the highest order who has done nothing in football.
This is the man who signed the distinctly average Nick Barmby and
Paul Okon for Leeds United and put them on huge wages. This is the
man who is so high on morals and discipline he allowed his England
team to go on the razzle prior to Euro 96 which culminated in the
infamous "dentists chair" photos showing a plastered Gazza
drowned in tequila. This is the man who ran Portsmouth and Crystal
Palace into the ground - a true Cockney wideboy. Great role model
Fred...
This would be the ultimate insult to Toon supporters and Sir Bobby's
legacy. Anybody but El Tel!
