Another Great Piece Of Business By Newcastle United
I shouldn't be shocked by the sudden
and unexpected sale of Aaron Hughes to Aston Villa because it's not
as if springing surprises onto an unsuspecting public is a new thing
where our club is concerned, but I am genuinely shocked at this bizarre
transfer. Amazed even. Make that astounded!

The Clear-Out Continues
From the club's official website: Newcastle United
have released Patrick Kluivert, Jamie McClen and Stephen Brennan.
The trio were all officially informed of their release on Saturday
morning.
Kluivert joined United from Barcelona last summer and made 25 starts
for The Magpies, and a further 12 as a substitute, netting 13 times.
McClen, who came through the ranks at St. James' Park, was given his
full debut by Ruud Gullit in April 1999 against Tottenham at St. James'
Park. Jamie went on to make a total of 10 starts for The Magpies,
and 12 more from the bench, with his only goal coming in an FA Cup
game at Peterborough United.
Brennan has been capped by the Republic of Ireland at four levels,
and was a regular in their under-21 side. He never played for the
first team at United, but was a regular in Tommy Craig's reserve side.
Over the last 12 months Stephen was blighted by injury, and has been
playing for Shelbourne over the last few months prior to his official
release from St. James' Park.
