Bellamy & Hughes Sale Confusion

Following a morning of speculation surrounding Craig Bellamy and a move to Aston Villa, the Midlands side have stated on their official website that they have agreed a fee with Newcastle for the Welshman and surprisingly and totally out of the blue, Aaron Hughes.

From Villa's official website:

Aston Villa Chairman Doug Ellis has confirmed the club has agreed a fee for Newcastle pair Craig Bellamy and Aaron Hughes.

Amidst much speculation, Ellis told www avfc.co.uk: "I have spoken with Freddy Shepherd, the Newcastle Chairman on several occasions in the last 48 hours and last night he accepted our cash offer for both players."

However, Newcastle's official website is contradicting what Villa have said, claiming the following:

Despite reports to the contrary, Newcastle United have not agreed any fees with Aston Villa over the sale of Craig Bellamy and Aaron Hughes.

News broke on Wednesday afternoon saying the pair were close to completing a move to Villa Park, but Newcastle confirm this report is incorrect and say no fees have been agreed with any club.

Meanwhile Hughes' agents the Stellar Group claim the player will discuss terms with Villa:

Newcastle United and Northern Ireland defender Aaron Hughes will discuss terms over a transfer to Premiership rivals Aston Villa after the Midlands side announced that they had agreed a fee with the Magpies for both Hughes and striker Craig Bellamy.

First To Walk: Kluivert's Gone

Various reports today have confirmed that Dutch striker Patrick Kluivert has left Newcastle. Having arrived in the Summer after what seemed like a 4 year chase to land his signature, many, myself included, thought he'd go on to become a big success on Tyneside but after 37 games and 13 goals the former Barcelona man will now be remembered for being a failure, one way or another.

Speculation mounts that Big Sam will attempt to lure him to Bolton Wanderers.
