Radi-No

Graham Souness has cancelled his originally planned slot on BBC Radio Newcastle, in which he was going to answer questions from the 'adoring' Toon Army faithful.

According to the statement the show was culled: 'due to unforeseen circumstances, the Graeme Souness interview has been postponed until later on in the summer.'

It seems that the Newcastle-Online questions will be put on hold until a later date. If Souness is still around that is.

Souness To Give Toon Striker Another Chance

United striker Michael Chopra, recalled back to Toon after his loan spell at Barnsley ended, has revealed to the Chronicle that he is to be given another chance at Newcastle by manager Graeme Souness.

Chopra said:

"The manager has said he'll have a look at me next season.

"He's said that he'll give me an extension and I'm pleased with that. There are a lot of clubs interested but Newcastle's my first love - it's my hometown club.

"He said he'll look at me in pre-season so it's all down to me, I can't ask for any more than that.

"Bobby Robson gave me a chance, but that was only for one game as the next game he didn't play me. That knocked my confidence.

"Graeme Souness is starting to give young players a chance, look at Steven Taylor, Charles N'Zogbia and Peter Ramage this season.

"My aim at the start of the season was to try to get 20 goals (for Barnsley). I got 17 and was really pleased with that. I've learned a lot from my time at Barnsley.

"I spoke to my agent and he said I was eligible to play. If I get on the pitch, I'll be pleased.

"I'm coming back flying because I've played 40 games for Barnsley. No disrespect to reserve-team football but it's not the same as first-team football. My match fitness and sharpness are there now."

Great news! Welcome back Chopra lad.
