Is The Gallowgate/East Stand To Be Extended?

Hot on the heels of their Shearer 'exclusive', Sky Sports News are also attributing quotes to Chairman Freddy Shepherd regarding the possible extention of the Gallowgate and East Stand.

Shepherd said:

"I think we'd look at increasing the size.

"But our problem is that we've got a victorian building behind the east stand which is very difficult.

"I think we'd have to go over the Gallowgate and go over a road but everything is possible at Newcastle."

Alan Shearer To Stay On Next Season

Sky Sports News are reporting that Alan Shearer is to stay on next season which will mean he has went back on his decision to quit, a stance he has maintained throughout the season. What has forced him to change his mind? I reckon our poll did it...

With 352 appearances to his name in a Toon shirt, news that Shearer will be staying on for another season will see him gunning for Wor Jackie Milburn on two accounts now - to smash his goals record and to overtake him in the appareances chart.

Wor Jackie, with 399 appearances to his name is 8th in our all-time appearances chart. If Big Al can stay fit and assuming he'll feature in most games, he will (or should) break the magical 400 mark.

Newcastle United Are The Tim Henman Of Football

In any walk of life or profession, especially sport, top achievers have that certain something over everyone else that propels them to the top, that makes them stand out, that Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi if you like that separates the winners from the also-rans. The achievers from the none achievers.

That competitive edge.

Looking across the board at all sports the world's top athletes and sports personalities all have that one thing in common despite their varying backgrounds, personalities and achievements. Michael Schumacher (Forumla One), Pete Sampras (Tennis), Sir Steven Redgrave (Rowing), Jonah Lomu (Rugby), our very own Jonathan Edwards (Athletics), Tiger Woods (Golf), Muhammad Ali (Boxing), Brian Lara (Cricket), Earvin 'Magic' Johnson (Basketball), Colin Mcrae (Rally), just to name but a few of the world's greatest sportsmen.

Shearer Dilemma Needs Addressed Quickly!

Alan Shearer... the man simply needs no introduction. A living legend who's name and reputation is known all around the globe. The man is already as big as Jackie Milburn, partly because most of us are too young to really judge or love Wor Jackie but also because it's true. I don't need to tell anyone how many goals Alan Shearer has scored... or what he has done for North-East football.

I needn't mention that he could have signed for our 'charva' rivals Manchester United, but instead opted to sign for Newcastle on a decade-to-decade contract. I don't have to explain any of it to anyone because we all know it off by heart.

But what we don't know and many would argue we should, is he playing on next season? And where on this planet do we find a replacement for the man?

The biggest question now in all minds of Newastle fans is, who is going to replace Alan Shearer? The tabloids will no doubt continue to play lead role in the play... but here's what we've heard so far...
