Nobby Won't Rule Himself Out Of Tyneside Reunion

Flying into Newcastle in the early hours of Friday morning will be former Toon winger Nobby Solano who revealed a few weeks back that he will almost certainly miss out on an emotional return to Tyneside.

Now however the little Peruvian is determined to feature in Saturday's clash where his new side Aston Villa will take on Newcastle at St. James' Park.

Nobby currently on international duty with Peru had this to say about the match:

"It will be a tough journey and of course fatigue will be a factor.

"But I think the manager wants me to play as we do not have too many options on the right side.

"I will leave it until the last minute because it's a match that means so much to me and of course I want to play.

"I never had the opportunity to say a proper farewell to the United fans - they were always good to me when I was at Newcastle and they have been great to me since my move.

"It's a big weekend for me and I can't rule myself out until I have to."

Sir Bobby & United Close To Settlement... Or Maybe Not!

According to today's Chronicle anyway:

Newcastle United are close to agreeing a settlement with their former boss Sir Bobby Robson.

Indeed, United could well make an announcement before England's World Cup qualifier with Azerbaijan at St James' Park tonight when Sir Bobby is one of the guests of honour.

The former England boss was relieved of his duties by the United board at the end of August but has still picked up his wages on his contract which runs out on June 30.

But now United and Sir Bobby have come to an agreement and it will be handshakes all round tonight.

United know how much Sir Bobby did for the club after Ruud Gullit left it in a mess, while their former manager said he was still Newcastle's No 1 fan when he was granted the Freedom of the City last month.

Now it remains to be seen whether Sir Bobby, who is now 72, takes another job in football.

Sir Bobby Robson himself, speaking to Sky Sports News, doesn't see it like that however:

"As far as I'm concerned, you're jumping the gun a little bit.

"It's in the hands of the solicitors.

"I know they've been trying.

"I was dismissed in August, we're now in April so it's about time. It's in the hands of the lawyers, that's all I can say.

"I hope it's close. It should have been done amicably some time ago."

Indeed it should have Bobby, but having worked for the muppets you should know they couldn't organise a piss-up in a Brewery.
