Laurent Robert: I Have The Same Hunger As
Shearer!
Quotes from Robert, speaking after the
UEFA Cup game from The Independent:
"I like this. I really like this. There is nothing like playing
in an atmosphere of this kind.
"It is the same for me as it is for Alan Shearer.
"I came to Newcastle with the same hunger: to win a trophy.
I only have two medals: one from the Confederations Cup with
France and one from the French Academy League. I think now,
this season, the opportunity is good for me, for Alan, and for
everybody else.
"Everybody knows my football.
"I'm best when I have the ball, make a cross, take a free-kick.
But I have to work hard on the pitch to help win the game. I
have to concentrate on this, every game. For me, now, it's OK.
I'm playing well. The team is playing well. Every game we are
working hard, everybody. The defence is very strong."
The Best £15m Ever Spent!
Newcastle's No.9 will make his 350th
Toon appearance tomorrow afternoon when United take on Spurs
in the FA Cup Quarter-Final at St. James' Park. Shearer will
move up into 13th place ahead of Andy Aitken in the all-time
top appearances list in the process as well.
349 appearances and 189 goals thus far, that's value for money
from the £15m man. Not bad for a Sheet Metal worker's son.
Lets hope Big Al has more reasons to celebrate tomorrow, a trip
to Cardiff...
FA Cup Match Preview: NUFC Vs Spurs
It's now six wins a row for the lads
as they continue to produce excellent results. Thursday's 3-1
win in Greece came in unusual circumstances but to score 3 away
goals against a good team like Olympiakos puts us in a brilliant
position for the second leg and progression to the Quarter-Finals.
A Cup double is still on the cards but no one is counting any
chickens yet!
When the draw was made for the FA Cup I was desperate for a
home tie. Obviously we wanted to avoid Man Utd and Arsenal but
even if we were against them at home we'd have a good chance.
Instead we got Spurs or Nottingham Forest. I'd have loved it
for Forest to have won as it would have been a much easier game,
instead we're up against an impressive, but inconsistent Spurs
side.
