Bellamy No-Go

Freddy Shepherd has squashed rumours that United would be willing to allow Craig Bellamy to go out on loan again.

Shepherd said:

"We won't be letting him go on loan again. We played fair with everyone by letting him go to Celtic on loan since the start of the year but we couldn't do that again.

"If Celtic come in with an offer everyone knows we will help them in any way we can.

"When they took him on loan I promised them first option and I will honour my word."

Le Baby Fined Again

Following more pettty quotes from Laurent Robert today, United Chairman Freddy Shepherd has confirmed that the Frenchman has been fined another 2 weeks wages.

Freddy said:

"He was warned not to do it and he must suffer the consequences.

"We have also reported him to the Football Association and we are seeking guidance from them on any further action they may wish to take."

And on Robert's departure:

"You should only say good when somebody leaves. Laurent Robert has gone. Good."

Meanwhile Graeme Sounes responded to Robert's jibes by wishing him well at Portsmouth.

Aye, Aye...

From the official website:

Following their recent promotion Newcastle Women's football club will be playing in next seasons FA Women's Premier League under the name of "Newcastle United Women's football club", this link will be a first in the history of Newcastle United FC in allowing female players to compete under the world famous name.

The Women's club, who have forged strong working partnerships with Newcastle City Council, University of Northumbria and Adidas UK, see the move as a massive boost to the future development of girls' football in the region.

Rob Atkin, football development officer for Newcastle City council comments "In the five years we have been promoting opportunities for girls and women's football the playing standards are now at a very high level, and with football being officially the top female sport in this country the link with Newcastle United will give all young players in the region something that they can aspire to and achieve success."
