Craig Bellamy: "I'm Not Interested In Moving"
Interesting Craig Bellamy quotes from today's Chronicle:
"I have two years left on my contract at Newcastle United
and at this moment in time I am not interested in moving.
"The Newcastle first-team squad are back a week on Monday and I will
be there with them. At this moment I am not interested in moving anywhere
else.
"Whether I train with the kids is not up to me. But if that's what
I am told to do, then that's what I'll do.
"All I can do is act in a professional and respectful manner and see
what happens after that. I will be keeping my head down and just getting
on with my job.
"I have two years left on my Newcastle United contract and at no time
have I ever said that I want to leave the club.
(Ed: You did make noises about leaving live on TV after the 2-2 home
draw with Norwich in August 2004, if United signed Wayne Rooney.)
"What I will say is that the summer has flown by and I can hardly
believe that it's time to report back for training."
Emre Signs - According To The Player (Quotes)
It would appear that manager Graeme Souness has made his second signing
of the close season after a protracted chase for Turkish midfielder
Emre looks to have came to a conclusion - in wor favour.
Roughly translated quotes attributed to the player from Hurriyet
(one of the biggest selling daily newspapers in Turkey):
"A numbers of clubs from Turkey including Fenerbahce made offers.
"However I have been repeatadly saying I would like to continue my
career in Europe.
"I'm still young and I don't want to come back to Turkey right away.
There is still alot to do for me in Europe.
"Newcastle is one of the biggest clubs in England and they made a
nice offer. That's why, I chose them.
"Of course having Galatasaray's ex-manager at Newcastle was another
strong factor.
"I'm now a Newcastle United player and I believe that I will be successful
there."
Aston Villa Hopeful Of Quasi Deal
Craig Bellamy's agent Stephen Horner on Aston Villa's interest in
the Welshman: "There has been no 'turning down' or
anything of the sort.
"At the moment he is heading back to Newcastle on July 4 but things
could change. He has not turned Villa down."
Meanwhile Villa's Operations Director Steve Stride had this to say:
"We haven't been informed either by the player or
his representatives that he has rejected us so it is something we
are still actively pursuing."
Lets hope his future gets sorted out sooner rather than later so we
can all move on.
Sir Bobby On John Carver's Departure
Quotes from our former boss: "John is hard-working,
dedicated, honest, straight as a die and a mighty-fine coach.
"I thought 'I don't need to replace Mick because I have the perfect
man right here.'
"He learnt from me but he had his own ideas too. He grew into the
job, he responded well and never let me down and he deserves a lot
of credit for what happened at Newcastle when I was there. He thrived
and I was delighted with him.
"He was young but he was a good coach. Ask the Newcastle players,
they will tell you that. He had their respect and he improved quite
a few of them as individuals.
"If I ever get back into management, the first thing I will do is
bring John in as my right-hand man. That's how highly I rate him.
"I also know John is looking to break into management himself. I wouldn't
hesitate in giving him a glowing reference and I have already recommended
him to one or two people in the game.
"Newcastle have parted company with a top man. I was very sorry to
see him leave because I know what the club means to him.
"And he is a Geordie who bleeds black-and-white and I always thought
he was the type of person they wanted at the club.
"He will be back in football soon because he's too good to be out
of the game for long." |
