Chairman Refutes Defender's Claims
Following quotes this morning attributed to Deportivo La Caruna centre-half
Jorge Andrade who had claimed Newcastle were interested in
him, United Chairman Freddy Shepherd was quick to quash these claims,
saying: "These reports are completely incorrect.
"We have not expressed any interest in the player, so the stories
that appeared on Thursday are ridiculous and can dismissed immediately."
Another player trying to use Newcastle's name to get a move to a 'big
club' then.
Bobby The Wanderer
From Wycome's official website: Rob Lee has
agreed terms on a new deal with Wycombe Wanderers.
The ex-England International agreed a similar contract to the match
to match agreement he was on last season and ends a lengthy process
of talks with John Gorman and the Board.
Lee joined the Blues in March last season and played seven games before
a knock picked up in the away draw at Yeovil ruled him out of the
last two fixtures.
His undoubted quality was evident during his brief spell and it gave
the likes of Joe Burnell and Matt Bloomfield license to roam as he
sat back, a formula that could prove to be very successful come next
season.
Previous to joining the club, Lee had a stint at League One side Oldham
Athletic following short stays at Derby County and West Ham United.
He is better known in the game however for his sterling displays at
the heart of Newcastle United's midfield where he made over 300 appearances.
John Gorman told wwfc.org. "I'm delighted that Rob is going to stay
with us. He's a very influetnial and exciting player so it's great
news."

Souness On The Season Ahead
"It's a hard game to start with (Arsenal away), but you
have to play everyone at some time so it doesn't matter when it is.
"It would have been nice to start the season with a home game, but
we're away first and we'll look forward to it and make sure we're
ready for it.
"I don't want to look past that game to be honest. To look ahead to
the home game with Manchester United would be disrespectful to West
Ham and Bolton who we play before that game.
"I'm just going to take each game as it comes along, I'm not one of
these guys who looks at the fixtures and tries to predict how many
points you are going to get.
"I'm sure the fans are looking forward to the derby games with Sunderland,
they always have that extra bit of spice to them." |
