You
Reap What You Sow, Freddy!
"I consider his behaviour to be totally
unacceptable and totally unprofessional." - Freddy Shepherd
24-01-2005 commenting on Craig Bellamy.
Too little too late Freddy, I'm afraid. And a tad ironic and
hypocritical of you too, given your own unacceptable and totally
unprofessional behaviour down the years running Newcastle United.
If the man at the top is morally bankrupt, conceited and lacking
certain standards, what hope is there for the ship he steers
or those doing the rowing? A ship that as I write is being engulfed
by waves of destruction. A ship that is way off course and some
would say sinking... and fast!
The defence has already leaked in goals at an alarming rate,
now it seems the whole club is ready to burst at the loosely
knitted seams. Unlike the defence however, we can't stuff the
holes with money in the hope that the tide of doom will subside.
Oh no...

Reserves:
Toon 1-1 Sunderland
Newcastle's reserves were held to a
1-1 draw against local rivals Sunderland at Kingston Park last
night. Toon striker Lewis Guy opened the scoring just before
the half hour mark and it seemed United would go on to win the
game but a late equaliser from Chris Brown meant the spoils
were shared.
United: Caig, Brittain, N'Zogbia (Carroll 87),
Brennan, Ramage, Ambrose, Howe, McClen, Milner, Guy, Alan O'Brien.
Subs (not used): Cavener, Critchlow, Doninger, Forst.
Bellamy
Fined 2-Weeks Wages
Today's Chronicle have reported that
the gobby Welshman has been fined two weeks wages, £80,000,
and branded 'a fool' for his recent behaviour with Chairman
Freddy Shepherd saying:
"When Bellamy turns up at the training ground today he will
be met with a fine of two weeks wages which is the maximum we
can give him.
"But this is not about money. It is about a player thinking
that he is bigger than a football club.
"Well, let me tell you that no individual be it the chairman,
the manager or a player is bigger than Newcastle United Football
Club even if that player is a multi-millionaire.
"Craig Bellamy was a fool to go on television yesterday afternoon.
We told him not to do it and as far as we are aware his agent
advised him not to do it."
Bernard
Seems To Be Off!
According to today's Chronicle Newcastle
have accepted a £400,000 bid from both Celtic and Birmingham
City with the two clubs given permission to speak to the Frenchman.
Bernard who had a good game against Arsenal believes that was
his last game for United, saying: "It was disappointing to lose
at Arsenal because that was probably my last game for Newcastle
United and I feel quite sad."
Who's next out of the door? Sigh...
Sir
Bobby Robson Speaks
Sir Bobby Robson, speaking to the Daily
Mail:
"I am not sure these situations should be aired in public.
"Graeme is trying to keep everybody happy. Sometimes you just
can't do that.
"What's happened doesn't come as a surprise because he and Graeme
had a fall-out almost as soon as Graeme took over.
"At one stage I gather he had Craig by the throat and threw
him to the ground, so they didn't exactly start on a good footing."
"It (right-wing) isn't his best position. He isn't scoring goals
and so he is becoming frustrated.
"Players cannot decide they don't want to play because of what
the manager is asking them to do.
"I had that with Kieron Dyer. A player has to do as he is told.
"But I am not sure taking a player to see the chairman is the
right thing to do.
"When I had my problems with Dyer I attempted to deal with it
myself. The manager runs the team."
The
Chairman Speaks
Quotes attributed to Freddy Shepherd
concerning Craig Bellamy:
"I wish to put the record straight regarding the Bellamy
situation. He walked off the training ground saying his hamstring
was tight, but what he failed to reveal in his interview was
that he had told other members of the squad before training
that he intended to feign injury.
"When Graeme Souness discovered this, he immediately ordered
Bellamy to attend a meeting with us in my office.
"At that meeting, Bellamy admitted to Graeme and I that he had
told the players that he was going to 'fake' an injury in training
and walk off.
"He also agreed at that meeting to apologise to his team mates
for his behaviour.
"He didn't do this which resulted in the action taken by the
manager at the weekend, which I fully support.
"In my book, this is cheating on the club, the supporters, the
manager and the player's own team-mates.
"Craig Bellamy is paid extremely well by Newcastle United and
I consider his behaviour to be totally unacceptable and totally
unprofessional.
"The player will now face internal discipline by the club." |
