UEFA Cup Match Preview: NUFC Vs SC Heerenveen
The last week, as I have mentioned earlier,
was make or break for the future of Graeme Souness and the 2004/2005
season for Newcastle United. As we all know, it was a success.
A 2-1 victory in Holland last week has put us in a good situation
for Thursday's game, but its far from in the bag. The game last
week saw an awful first half peformance, echoed by chants of
'Sack the Board' and 'Souness is a wanka' but we turned it around
with two good goals in the second half. Far from a vintage performance,
but it was clear to everyone that the substitution of Robert
for Ameobi, reverting back to 4-4-2 and the pushing forward
of Kluivert worked perfectly for an impressive final half hour.

Behind Enemy Lines: The View From A Heerenveen
Fan
Newcastle-online caught up with Heerenveen
fan and webmaster of their supporters' club website, Jeroen
to get his views on tomorrow night's UEFA Cup second leg match
at St. James' Park. This is his response...
Q: Hi Jeroen, you must have been disappointed with the result
in Heerenveen. Can your club pull off a shock at St. James'
Park?
Realistically? No. We put everything in that game last Thursday.
It even cost us the away game against De Graafschap because
of some minor injuries and tired players. Huntelaar might not
be fit (again). It's likely that he's being prepared for PSV
at home this Sunday. So to win 2-0 at St. James' Park is almost
impossible.
Hopefully? Yes. Newcastle is walking on clouds after the Chelsea
game. If Newcastle starts the game only to not get tired, we
might have a chance. If we start like we did Thursday we might
surprise you. Only if Newcastle scores in the first 20 minutes
are we finished.

Michael Owen - Flattered By Toon Interest
Real
Madrid and England striker Michael Owen, speaking after his
side's win over Juventus last night in the Champions League
and responding to Graeme Souness' admission on BBBC Radio Newcastle
that United are monitoring his situation at the Spanish club,
claims he is flattered by the Toon's interest in him.
Owen said:
"I admire Graeme Souness and I think he's doing a good job.
It's always flattering to be linked with any club and especially
one of Newcastle's standing but I'm happy here.
"I'm not thinking about the end of this season." |
