Kieron Dyer Rumours

Update: Newcastle United and Kieron Dyer's agents (I presume they are his agents - or maybe his PR company?) have both denied the below story which appeared in today's Sun newspaper.

Newcastle United and England ace Kieron Dyer was left nursing a fat lip after a nightclub brawl.

The 26-year-old midfield star got into a scrap at the trendy Attic club following the Toon's 1-1 draw with Charlton.

Dyer, who has a colourful history as a troublemaker at St James' Park. was out with team-mates Patrick Kluivert, 28, Titus Bramble, 23, and a group of female friends.

But the evening turned sour when a man started chatting up one of the girls.

An eyewitness said: "Kieron Dyer was swanning around the club like he owned it.

"There was a group of about 20 guys out on a birthday party and one of them started chatting up a girl with Kieron.

"Kieron came over and told him to leave her alone.

"Then he laid into Dyer and started punching seven bells out of him. The rest of his mates all jumped in as well.

"He was taking quite a beating. The bouncers couldn't get near the scuffle because there were so many of the blokes trying to smack him.

"Luckily Titus Bramble and Patrick Kluivert are big lads and stepped in to rescue him."

The news will be a blow to Newcastle manager Graeme Souness, who has vowed to stamp out the wild image club players have earned.
