Dyer May Get His Wish
Sky Sports News are reporting that Manchester United's Paul Scholes
has retired from International football again (I thought he retired
two years ago). You may remember a certain Toon number 8 prior to
a certain 6-2 thrashing talking about how he fancied his chances of
taking Scholes's place in Sven's England midfield...well his chances
have just improved...slightly.
All Dyer needs to do now is less *talk - more walk.
I wonder whether Man Utd 'fans' will be as quick to criticise Scholes
for deserting his country as they were when Shearer announced his
retirement?
Rumours that Sven has been at it with Scholes's missus are as of yet
unconfirmed.
*I'll never forgive Dyer for those comments, he inspired the ginger
one that day didn't he. Hopefully Scholes's retirement (if true of
course) will inspire Dyer, not that he should need any encouragement
in the first place mind...
Toon Snap Up French Youngster
French Trialist Charles N'Zogbia who enjoyed a 3
week trial on Tynesdie a few weeks back has been snapped up permanently.
The left winger, from French Club Le Havre and who is only 18 and
is part of the France under-19 set up is thought to be one for the
future.
Update: As I understand N'Zogbia is a left full-back
stroke winger so perhaps this signing will provide cover for Olivier
Bernard at left-back?
Just a right-back now and we're complete. The hunt is expected to
be stepped up after tomorrow's game with Celtic.
Robert In New Toon Contract Talks
Quotes attributed to Laurent Robert in French football magazine L'Equipe
regarding the apparent interest from Marseille suggest that he is
in contract discussions with United in a move to tie the Frenchman
to a longer deal.
Robert said:
"Newcastle will never let me leave on loan.
"I think if Marseille really want me, they can get me but, on a financial
level, it could be difficult.
"Now we (myself and Newcastle) are in talks for a two or three-year
extension."
Lets hope it's on a performance related basis and can someone at United
get in touch with our other Frenchman please?
Paddy Should Be 100% Fit For The Big Kick-Off
According to the man himself...
Kluivert said:
"I should be 100% fit by the time we play Middlesbrough.
"I'm stepping up my training this week and I'm hoping to play a bigger
part against Celtic. I was running for most of my first week but I'll
be involved in full training with the other players from now on.
"The most important thing for me now is to play and train with my
new team-mates. |
