Bower Gets Additional 3-Match Ban
From the official NUFC website:
Newcastle United have been informed of the decision of the Football
Association's Disciplinary Commission which was held this afternoon
in connection with Lee Bowyer.
The player has already been fined heavily by the club, and is currently
serving a four-match ban, the last of the four being Sunday's fixture
at Manchester United.
After that, five further games remain for Newcastle United in rhe
Barclays Premier League programme.
The additional ban imposed by the Disciplinary Committee will mean
that Lee Bowyer will be available for the last two games of the season.
Although the club has not had an opportunity to discuss the decision
with the player and his advisors fully, an appeal against this decision
is not envisaged.
Shay To Stay?
Shay Given quotes regarding his future
at Newcastle United:
"I fully expect to still be a Newcastle United player next season.
I've got two years left on my contract and I want to be here for at
least that length of time.
"I suppose I anticipate a summer of speculation linking with me with
moves away, but I don't see it as anything more than paper talk. Unless
somebody tells me otherwise, I'll be a Newcastle player next season.
"It looks as though there are going to be some major changes in the
summer. I've not got a clue who we're going to buy, but I think it's
obvious the areas we need to strengthen.
"The manager already has an idea of the players he wants to bring
in and I want to be a part of what he is trying to do.
"He will bring some new faces in and I'm looking forward to joining
up with them when we return for pre-season training." |
