Newcastle United & Politics
The link between football and politics
has been well documented. Most recently in a BBC documentary Football
and Fascism. This article looks at the way the political world
affects Newcastle United and the way in which the two are paralleled.
References and links will be made to several political parties, movements
and members of Parliament. No offence is intended in this article,
it just aims to show the way in which Newcastle United and politics
co-exist in a country preparing for a General Election on the 5th
of May 2005.

Norwich 2-1 Newcastle United
Newcastle's season went from bad to
worse with another defeat this time at the hands of lowly Norwich
City.
Before the match Newcastle's injury worrys got worse with Steven Taylor
out of training on Tuesday with an ankle injury. His place was taken
by Robbie Elliot who after 10 minutes took a bang to the head and
was left to play the rest of the game with a massive bandage round
his head.
Youssef Safri put Norwich ahead after the first-half ended 0-0 with
a fantasic shot from 35-yards out, Tony Yeboah style, and it took
Newcastle until the 89 minute to equalise with Patrick Kluivert (on
as a sub) the man to put it in the Norwich net.
It looked as though United had managed to salvage a point but in the
last minute of injury time Dean Ashton was able to get up above Carr
and Boumsong to head the ball into the bottom corner of the net and
leave the Toon with nothing.
