Is Freddy Shepherd To Launch A Takeover Bid For
NUFC?
Tucked away in yesterday's Chronicle
(page 8) is a little snippet regarding United Chairman Freddy Shepherd
and his shares in NUFC:
Newcastle United Chairman Freddy Shepherd is inching towards the
point where he will have to launch a takeover of the club. Mr Shepherd's
company Shepherd Offshore has snapped up another 100,000 shares worth
an estimated £43,500.
The buy brings the company's interest in Newcastle United to 26.43%.
A takeover bid must be launched if Shepherd Offshore holds 30% of
shares in the club. The Wallsend company now has more than 34m shares
in Newcastle United.
The deal comes after Mr Shepherd bought 1.1 million shares in December.
Newcastle unveiled bumper £5.1m six-month profits last week, up 4.5m
on the last six months.

Match Preview: Norwich City Vs NUFC
Only in the crazy world of Newcastle
United could such loyal fans be let down so much over a week. After
such optimism not so long ago, we came back down to earth with a bang
and lost 4-1 in both games in frankly embarrassing circumstances.
I didn't expect us to lose so bad against Man Utd, but the manner
in which we did it was awful. 30,000 fantastic, passionate supporters
signing their hearts out for 90 minutes to be repaid with a performance
that couldn't be further away from the one the crowd put in.
