Newcastle United have this morning announced that our final pre-season friendly against Valencia has been delayed, and will now kick off at a later time of 5PM.

It appears there has been a problem with the plane bringing the Spanish stars to the North East, and so the club feel they had no alternative but to push back the start time.

A statement on the official site, nufc.co.uk, read:

NEWCASTLE United’s pre-season friendly against Valencia at St.James’ Park on Saturday August 9 will now kick off at the later time of 5pm.

This is due to the delayed arrival of our opponents from Spain following a technical issue concerning their aircraft.

Supporters using corporate areas will still be able to enter the stadium from 1pm.

We apologise to supporters for any inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond the Club’s control.

It seems likely that refunds will be given to those that have bought tickets and are now unable to attend.

Trying to work out what is going on at NUFC is difficult at the best of times. In the days of Shepherd and the Halls, there was a steady flow of leaks which seemed to emanate from Gallowgate, some of which were even true from time to time (I got the impression Roeder and Souness in particular had more moles than a witch’s backside). Since the advent of Ashley and his cronies, hard news about the club is thin on the ground and you might get more insight from reading chicken entrails than reading the local and national media.

Since the last edition of SHSoSHG, David Rozehnal has signed for Lazio, while Emre is expected to sign for Fenerbache next month once he sorts out a technicality involving his eligibility for Turkish national service. Moving on, we turn our attentions to Brazilian centre half Claudio Cacapa.

Newcastle legend Sir Bobby Robson has launched a new charitable foundation. Robson is aiming to raise £500,000 for the new charity, and the money shall fund the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trial and Research Centre, being built at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.

Cancer can be treated most effectively if it is detected in it’s early stages, and the centre will focus on early diagnosis and treatment, and will also feature clinical trials for new drugs.

Sir Bobby is currently undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer - the fifth time he has had cancer in his lifetime. Regardless, he continues to work for the benefit of the North East public.

The only news at St. James’ Park this week is that of the imminent departure of chairman Chris Mort who shall be returning to his previous job. Mort has worked hard to rebuild the foundations of the club, and it shall ultimately take years for the fans to fully determine the success of his short but productive reign. This week’s edition of SHSoSHG? will look at a player considered already gone. Is there a way back for David Rozehnal?

I’m conscious that many will not like this article, so the easily offended should not read on. But I think the events of the last fortnight are a worry. Perhaps a minor one, but a worry none the less.

Going back to the initial incident, the tone of the post-Chelsea interview came completely out of the blue, rather like Keegan’s more famous outburst in 1996. Most of us were left scratching our heads, wondering what exactly had brought it on.

Hardly breaking news, but it would seem that Kevin Keegan reached his own conclusions regarding the future of Stephen Carr, and ultimately agreed with our own conclusion to the most recent edition of this series that the Irishman should be released without further ado. Ramage and Troisi were also released, and Newcastle-Online wish the pair all the best. Moving on, we turn our attentions to Jose Enrique.
