Dear Mr. Kluivert & Co.

Newcastle-Online comment: 7th July 2004

Sign or piss off!

Dear Mr. Kluivert (& agent/s), after 2 unhappy years at Barcelona where the Catalonians have made their displeasure known at seeing you wear their famous shirt and a no show in the European Championships for the Country that you hold the goalscoring record for you are now at a cross roads in your once promising football career. After what seems like 4 years of courting your services (it's probably longer) and endless reports that Newcastle United and yourself are in discussions, the peddled like a bike rumour is not so much a rumour anymore.

After years of "I want to play in the Premiership" emanating from you (& your agent/s) Newcastle United have offered you that chance and you have a decision to make don't you?

I understand that a multi-millionaire like yourself wants to maintain such a salary and that all these so-called "offers" will have to be "listened to" but if you want to get back to being the undoubted footballer that you are (used to be) for a minute then Newcastle United is the football club for you. We can't offer you "London" nor "Champions League football" and we are not the "big club" that others undoubtedly are but we can help you and you can help us.

If you want to sample life in the Premiership and be worshipped by 10's of thousands of supporters (52,000 plus to be precise) for being a footballer, a goalscorer - then come and sign for the Toon.

We (the supporters) don't particularly need another player with more baggage than British Airways nor a money grabbing mercenary with his best days behind him. What we do need however is a genuine world-class striker to replace God (Shearer).

Which one are you?

An answer within the next few days will be greatly appreciated, I can't put up with 5 more weeks of this...

Edited 23rd July 2004: I knew it would do the trick ;)
