Enemy Lines: The View From An Olympiakos Fan (again) |
March 16th 2005
Newcastle-online caught up once again with the editor of Gate
7, an Olympiakos Fan Club to get his views on tonight's UEFA Cup
4th round second leg in which his side have an uphill task of qualifying
for the next round after United's 3-1 win in Athens.
Q: What impressions did Newcastle make on you after the first
leg?
I Know that Newcastle can deliver the best and the worst. It is a
typical English team. I think that Monaco and Liverpool played better
in our ground. It is not possible to have a good picture because we
played with 9 and Newcastle had 11 players on the field. Despite that,
you only scored once during the second half ( opposition with 9 players).
Q: Which players from Newcastle stood out in the match and
why?
Shearer, Kluivert and the guy who scored the free-kick, Robert.
Q: Can Olympiakos pull off a shock result at St. James' Park?
This is difficult as we are not scoring too many goals this season.
This tie reminds me of one several years ago against Juventus. We
lost 3-1 in the first leg also and we won 2-1 in the second.
Q: What was your opinion of the visiting Newcastle fans who
went to the match in Greece?
Actually I was in the other end of the ground and I could not hear
them at all, because of the noise. But I could see the black and white
stripes. I know that English people are very loyal to their clubs.
Q: How will Olympiakos play at St. James' Park? Will they go all out
attack to get some vital away goals or will they sit back and look
to make a game of it without being too open?
They will go with 3-5-2 Giovanni will play instead of Rivaldo (injured
during the first leg). I think Olympiakos will try to score a quick
goal.
Q: What is the spirit like within Olympiakos? Are the players low
in confidence or do they believe they can get through to the next
round?
Actually our players know that they can achieve something good. During
the last games we have been unlucky yet they have played very well
so the spirit is good.
Q: Which Olympiakos players will Newcastle have to watch?
Who will be your key players?
Djorjevic and Giovanni.
Q: Finally, do you have a prediction for the match?
I reckon 2-1 to Newcastle. |
