Toon Fan Voices Concerns Over The Running Of NUFC |
What A Bloody Week!
By Macca: 20th August 2004
Typical Newcastle United, they never fail to disappoint us, do they?
My observations of the last 7 days in particular sum up why Newcastle
United is nothing more than a wannabe mickey mouse club under the
present regime.
Firstly, the Kieron Dyer affair. The whole matter has been handled
in the most ridiculous way.
The Manager has shown his weakness throughout the entire ordeal. If
Dyer had refused to play to instructions, why was he even put on the
bench in the first place? Could you see Ferguson or Wenger putting
up with that crap? Of course they wouldn't.
Even then, with Dyer on the bench, why was he put on when it was clearly
evident to 35,000 people in the ground and countless millions world
wide that the prick wasn't paying any attention to detail from the
manager.
On this subject finally, Robson, Shepherd and the Agent have all come
out and said that the player has apologised to them for his actions.
Well, so fucking what. It is the fans who pay his salary, not Robson,
Shepherd or the Agent so why hasn't Dyer publicly apologised to the
fans?
Simple, he probably hasn't and we can probably expect him playing
in the centre of the midfield against Spurs whilst our most potent
attacking midfield player, Bowyer, is either placed on the bench or
played wide right.
The Woodgate situation is a strange one, isn't it? He is about two
weeks away from full fitness and whilst to all and sundry, we are
crying out for him to return and possibly even need a new partner
for him at the back, what does the club do? Sell him for a paltry£4.4
million quid more than we paid for him.
What happened to all the comments from Shepherd about £50 million
wouldn't be enough? Why was he sold so quickly? Real Madrid are no
mugs, they are not going to buy a player who isn't going to last,
even with his injury record.
I read on one website that Woodgate was apparently disappointed with
the training regime at SJP. He was under the impression that he would
improve under Robson but instead, all he has done is gone backwards.
I can certainly believe that.
Robson's reasons in the press for denying him a move of a lifetime
left me even more bemused. Fuck Real Madrid, is what he should have
said. He should have told Woodgate to buck his ideas up and do the
job he is paid to do. OK, the player has been unlucky with injuries
but at 24, he has a whole career in front of him. To be honest, he
is a risk and whether NUFC thought he was too much of a risk, remains
to be seen. I wouldn't have let him go until a replacement had been
bought at least, especially when we are so low on central defensive
cover. Seems very strange for me.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of discontent. The Dyer situation wont
go away, believe me. Woodgate being sold will mystify many, not least,
the players and with Shearer obviously unhappy, Bernard looking for
a move, I have this feeling that our season is starting to fall apart
even before a ball has been kicked in anger.
I am extremely disappointed from the point of view that we were only
a couple of players away from being a really good title challenging
squad. When I hear the likes of Dawson, Huth etc. being mentioned
as replacements for Woody, it fills me full of horror.
Forget about Gallas. Mourinho is nobody's fool and as Gallas is currently
the first choice central defender with Terry, he is not leaving, that
is for sure.
It has to be said, Robson has proved his weakness and Shepherd has
proved his mistrust. I doubt whether we will ever find out the real
truth about the Dyer and Woodgate situation even if Shepherd does
find the guts to explain this to the fans but it seems to me that
neither Robson or Shepherd understand the fans frustration with this
club and are always ready to appease the fans with some sort of flimsy
excuse.
Forget about the CL or trophies this season, boys, THIS CLUB IS FUCKED. |
