Shay
Given
Shay wasn't overly troubled by Fulham but kept himself awake
enough to make a good low save near the end. He'll be disappointed
to have missed out on a third successive clean sheet but could
do nothing about their goal. |

Stephen
Carr
The Ireland man struggled with Boa Morte at times and his positioning
for Fulham's goal left a lot to be desired. Linked up well with
Milner down the right-flank however and was unlucky not to have
an assist to his name with some decent crosses sent in. |

Jean-Alain
Boumsong
The Frenchman was an absolute rock. Whenever Fulham looked vaguely
threatening, the stand-in skipper was there to tackle, bring
the ball out and start us off again without so much as breaking
a sweat. Looked impeccable here and against Palace on Saturday
and if he can transfer this form to games against bigger and
better opposition we'll have a real top-class defender on our
hands. My man of the match! |

Titus
Bramble
Aside from a couple of minor Bramble-esque errors in the first-half,
this was a very solid performance from the returning defender.
He didn't seem troubled by his injury either and played some
good long passes as usual. |

Steven
Taylor
Taylor did well defensively in a left-back role this time, as
well as taking the time to show off his skills and go on some
strong, probing runs down the wing. H really needs to learn
to keep his arms down though because Graham Poll was very lenient
with him and on another night he could easily have walked. |

James
Milner
As usual Milner was always involved and in the game he had some
end product to show for it. Gave Rosenior a tough time and his
crossing was a lot better than usual, culminating in an excellent
corner for Shola to head in. Keep it up. |

Darren
Ambrose
Ambrose is turning into a real asset when it comes to goals.
His strike his third goal in as many away starts and he's already
got more than a few of our midfielders who've played a lot more
games. Didn't get forward too much but never hid and constantly
battled in the centre of midfield. |

Amdy
Faye
Faye was Poor. His distribution is still lacking and against
Fulham so was his defensive side. The former Portsmouth man
was put to shame by two young fellow central midfielders who
got stuck in and fought a lot more than he did. |

Charles
N'Zogbia
The young Frenchman is getting better and better. Still showing
his inexperience at times in possession but that's to be expected
and he'll improve with the rest of his game, given time. As
strong as an ox on the ball and in the tackle, he really looks
to be a quality find. Put two fantastic crosses in for two of
the goals. |

Shola
Ameobi
Shola doesn't look overly comfortable wide-left but still managed
to give Volz a hard time, particularly early on. Had drifted
out of the game more and more until he popped up to score. Seems
to enjoy playing with Kluivert. |

Patrick
Kluivert
Often a peripheral figure until his goal, but his general style
of play meant we played much better football than we have recently,
with less lumping it high and more quick passing on the ground.
Did himself no harm if he wants to be here again next season. |

The Boss Man:
Graeme
Souness
Although dropping Shearer was apparently at the request of the
skipper himself, nevertheless the Scot finally made the decision
to leave Big Al out, one that has been delayed for far too long
in many eyes, especially away from home. The real test is yet
to come though, when Shearer and others want back in. His 5-man
midfield worked well, though as a long term solution, I'm yet
to be convinced. It certainly doesn't work with Shearer on his
own up top. |
