He is a lowlife, worthless, child beating scumbag and Keegan should be ashamed of himself for letting him back. What kind of example does it set for kids in the toon army? I hope you all give him the reception he deserves. He is not man enough to take the stick I hope he will get and will no doubt crack under the pressure.

Joey Barton should stay at Newcastle because if it was any other footballer who had this incident, they would be given another chance within seconds of coming out of prison! Give him a chance to shine and he might surprise you! You call yourselves supporters and your not even supporting part of your team! I dont think thats very supportive now, do you?

Had I thought that Barton would continue as a Newcastle player after his prison sentence I would not have renewed my season ticket for the next three years.

Sadly the club have decided to back him which sends out a signal to other reprobates who now know that there is no deterrent for this appalling behaviour.

I sincerely hope that should he ever come through the tunnel at SJP the fans will treat him with the derision he deserves.

No doubt to make it easier for him his first game will be Away but as he is now a national figure,hopefully even the Opposition will give him a hard time.

Joey Barton was given a chance when he signed for us from man city he then went out at Christmas and got arrested whilst still on bail(thank you Mr Barton).
He then also has the cheek to say that Newcastle fans are vicious with there criticism of the poor performances of the team.
Well Mr Barton at least the vicious criticism did not end in any one having hospital treatment.
So do the honourable thing Mr barton and leave the toon for good.

even though joey has made more than a few mistakes, if keegan is willing to have him back for a final chance, then can’t you swallow your pride and see if he can make a last minute change for the better?

please note that keegan said “final” chance so if this time he fails, he’s out. so why not just see if he makes or breaks his last chance?

you people need to think with level heads more often… you’re just biased and are afraid of being proven wrong if he does change on his last chance.

William Smith has it spot on. We cannot afford to release Barton. Our squad is too small. He is a proven premiership standard player, i would prefer he stayed and showed that (as he did latterly last season)than us sign another misfit for a vast price as has been done too many times in the past. Money doesnt seem to grow on trees at SJP these days, we spent almost £6m on this guy and fans just want to throw him out the door? Rest assured if we did, he would be at another Premiership club within weeks being given a chance, and would probably make us look very stupid.
We should all get off our moral high horses and off KK’s back and get behind him trying to take us back to the glory days. Not one person in this world is perfect.

PS - note chances given to those convicted of various offences - Big Dunc, Molby, George Best, Mickey Thomas, Lee Hughes….the list goes on.
