Newcastle legend Sir Bobby Robson has launched a new charitable foundation. Robson is aiming to raise £500,000 for the new charity, and the money shall fund the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trial and Research Centre, being built at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.
Cancer can be treated most effectively if it is detected in it’s early stages, and the centre will focus on early diagnosis and treatment, and will also feature clinical trials for new drugs.
Sir Bobby is currently undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer - the fifth time he has had cancer in his lifetime. Regardless, he continues to work for the benefit of the North East public.
The team at Newcastle-Online would like to offer Sir Bobby our best wishes, and we would be grateful if you could offer your support to Sir Bobby Robson and all other cancer patients by donating Here.
Many thanks for your continued support.

But then again…

Whereas Newcastle United supporters have the weight of several decades of under achievement on their shoulders, Birmingham City fans can point to a full 133 years of the same.Sharing the city with Aston Villa and (putting aside disputes about where the political boundary of the city lies) West Bromwich Albion , Birmingham City’s role has traditionally been that of always the bridesmaid, never the bride. And not even chief bridesmaid, with the club’s achievements lagging far behind those of both her neighbours.
The club began life known as Small Heath Alliance, named after the part of the city in which they were formed, in 1878. Twenty seven years later, they adopted the name of the city itself, and became Birmingham City. (more…)
