cacapa is not bad and an excellent reader of he game. went to both arsenal away games and some of the things were top class and things other defenders at our club wouldn't have had the quality to do. Taylor get's overlooked a lot and unfortunately for me it seems that bramble has rubbed off on him. Sometimes he positions himself poorly or just messes up, plain and simple. could be a very good player though. lay off cacapa though because i am telling you now that many of his faults are covering taylor's mistakes. i remember seeing a ball played by aston villa when taylor left it for another player and cacapa had to go and cover in behind him to clean up his mess (not that in that instance he did it well). I am not saying cacapa has been outstanding, and i fully support the fact he has made mistakes but i still think he is a very good player.
People here are also being too short sighted within play and parts of play things happen which are indirectly caused by other things such as positioning, giving the ball away etc. Our team is not currently a unit and especially in central midfield at this moment is seriously weak. the defence wouldn't have so many problems if we were structured and our players weren't always giving the ball away so the opposition could attack us (for the 62nd time in the match).

and i cant agree with you on alan smith either. although he hasnt scored for newcastle he hasnt had the chances created for him in front of goal. he is quality and has been one of our best players this year. i mean hes played for manchester united and england so he cant be that bad. KEEP SMITH!

we played an aston villa team without their top goalscorer (agbonglahor) and still got beat 4 - 1. I read comments on this page that the first half performance showed that we had good players. NUFC fans need to get that notion from their heads COMPLETELY. In the starting lineup that played against Villa, five of them can bog off. CARR - inept at best, hes just not a very good player. League two level I would say, and I am being nice and trying so hard not to swear. CACAPA - good player in France, good on the ball etc, However, he is playing in a BAD newcastle team right now, and we cannot afford to be blooding players into the Premiership when we are in a relegation dogfight. He may be a good defender in France, but not in Prem. Barton and Butt -where do I start? OK, Nicky Butt is crap and Joey Barton is crap, there, that wasnt hard. If you watch the game again, you could count on one hand the amount of times the two players passed to another teamate..it was disgusting the amount of times they both gave the ball away. They have no pace or strength or real technical abilty. People rave about barton but he was captain of a team that nearly went down last year. They just are not good enough for NUFC. We want to be challenging top six right? Lets compare with other teams we were meant to be challenging with, Everton..ARTETA & CAHILL. Villa.. BARRY & REO COKER Porstmouth MUNTARI & DIARRA Man City ELANO & HAMANN, we just do not have the same quality. Then on to Alan Smith, God Bless him, he does graft, but thats what sunday leage players also do. Damn, Id pay £200 a week to graft for my beloved NUFC, id still score the amount of goals Smith has...NONE!(maybe i might take a penalty and get one) Smith is not good enough. keegan cannot be blamed at all, he just does not have good players..in fact, he has some very very bad players. I beleive we will stay up, but by heck do we need to rip the team apart and start again. TWO NEW QUALITY CENTRE HALFS. TWO NEW QUALITY CENTER MIDFIELDERS AND TWO NEW QUALITY STRIKERS. Simple as that. Our wide players in Zogy amd Milner i have faith with, Beye and Enrique are coming and will come good. Given is class, Taylor, with hard work will become class, owen needs games, but also competition from other class strikers. Right now NUFC has too many crap players, hence the fact that we are below boro and a couple points above the Scum. When we get better players in we will move up the table and produce better performances. Football is that simple.

Scott agree with you on Taylor, as much as i do rate the lad he is by far the finished article, while Cacacpa reminds me a bit like Bramble can play really well but iam always expecting him to mess up, and cant find any words that describe how bad a player Carr truly is, from what ive seen of Enrique he hasnt done that bad not sure why he hasnt been playing more.

Youre right PaulM, Taylor wasnt responsible in this case but he, Cacapa and Carr have all been guilty of this of late. I just hope as good as Taylor will be in years to come he doesnt think he is beyond criticism. He is after all part of the, statistically, 3rd worst defence in the country at the moment !!

carr, barton and smith have all shown that they don't have the quality required to be in a good footballing team. The signs were there in the 1st half that we were going to concede and this is where i was disapoointed by keegan. the team are clearly playing better but enrique is 10*>carr, and underrated, viduka needed to replace smith since we clearly needed an outlet to hold the ball up and relieve pressure, and emre needed to replace barton simply because he is better with and on the ball. I didnt see the 2nd half but the signs were there in the 1st that we were going to concede. i remember a really good passing move in the 1st half were there was some one touch stuff being played down the left then it go threaded intot barton, who trying to pass to smith i think, managed to knock it behind for a goal kick with a terrible ball and put us on the back foot. Faye also needed to come on somewhere, possibly midfield, just to add a presence to that area of the pitch since we were clearly lacking there.

Stephen Carr is an awful, awful player who is well passed his best.

Why Keegan played him out of position in preference to the up and coming Jose Enrique is beyond me.

All these comments are correct, however, The one sided nature of the second came about due to the fact Villa started to play football, rather than Newcastle giving it away. In the 1st half Villa were dreadfully inept rather than Newcastle good. Overall, this result shows the gulf between the top 6 and the bottom 6.
