What is needed now is stability, whether things go our way or wether they don't, we'll have to stick with this setup for a minimum of three years, without question. Meanwhile there are a lot of foreign players with a good reputation, but they seem to be unable to get to grips with Premier League football. If better replacements can be found, perhaps in the summer Carr, Enrique and Cacapa should all go. Also Emre and Owen (if anyone wants him, that is), they have had their day, and Barton (the last thing we need is a guy with an attitude problem). My expectations until the summer break? Zero, just stay clear of the danger zone, work on organisaional/back room foundations and draw in new, top players during the summer. Then we can start with fresh hope.

Bob, you keep knocking out these fantastic articles. Top notch yet again.

The thing is, with Keegan now in charge, we're going to turn up to match excited about what we're about to see. I don't think we could ask for more then that for at least 2-3 seasons now, with were the club finds itself today.

I must admit to having been swept away with the enthusiasm of Keegan. I was disaapointed initially with this appointment, but having seen this amazing guy speak and it seems clear that Ashley will be writing some sizeable cheques, hope has arisen!

I very much doubt we will recreate the 90's under Keegan. I sincerely hope we do. But then only us and Man United could spend BIG. Now there is Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa, Arsenal and even Portsmouth and the mackems.

I have faith that things will change, only because they simply have to. Atleast we won't have a manager seemingly ecstatic with 0-0 draws at Stoke.

Great article Bob. The build up to the Bolton game was always going to be bigger than the game itself - what did we expect after 1 training session and half a team missing?
The backlash from the mainly London press is also expected - every match they will be waiting to get their claws into the club and KK in particular. Its strange that 17 other EPL clubs will have also failed this year (assuming no one does the double or treble) but that is overlooked - what have Arsenal won recenty? and yet Wengers every word is apparently written in tablets of stone. They are quick to point out that no team can come from nowhere to EPL winners - ask Chelski if this is the case. Football is now entertainment, run by billioniares for their own distractions. Success cannot be measured in trophies alone - if 52,000 geordies pack SJP every week and come away happy then that is success regardless of the southern press.
