I’m a teeny weeny bit older than you, Alex, but I’d rate that Brazil side as the greatest ever. When they lost to Italy, it felt like a defeat for football itself.

I was eight at the time at this was the first world cup I remember - can vaguely recall seeing us play Spain and going out and Keegan missing a sitter.

I would have been about five when all this was going on & have no recollection at all about it or indeed football till Whiteside scored against Everton in the F.A. Cup final a year or so later.

But I have to say that I really enjoyed reading this. I just hope we start playing some decent football soon!
