I can’t see what Owen has done wrong? He is injury prone alright, but what else? he cannot get involved in media speculation every five minutes, as that would restrict him from training and acting like an athlete, and I think that Kluivert, Ginola, and most other players have been more selectve in their services to us than Michael Owen…

Would you all stop moaning like a bnunch of c***s, at the end of the day everyone knows Owen is an England player first then club second, we knew this when we bought him. At the time no one mentioned this because he has a proven scoring record for all the clubs he’s been with. Just look at Liverpool where although he scored only two short of Fowler in his career there he’ll never be held in near the same regard, why? Because Fowler was all about club before country, but ask any Liverpool fan would they rather Owen was not at their club scoring those goals and they’ll tell you the same as anyone of us, No f***ing way!!!

The only part of this article I agreed with.
I am a Geordie first and In-ger-land mean next to nothing to me.
And compared to Newcastle United In-ger-land mean nothing at all.
Owen has been as big as waste of space as far as the Toon go as Marcellino or Dyer.
Owen doesn’t give a flying fart about Newcastle and I don’t give a flying fart about him.

Spot on. Paper talk is often used to prise players alway from ‘Smaller’ clubs. Especially by a certain Manchester based Tabliod…cough cough Daily Mirror cough!

Nuff said…article states everything I’ve been thinking since we bought him from under the nose of Liverpool.

Yes he plays for England (who wouldnt as a pro footballer?)

Yes we pay a shedload of money for him (do the likes of Lampard/Terry/Gerrard not get far too much?).

Yes he gets injured a fair amount (as do most footballers…personally I think we need to go back to a pie and a pint for the players after every game…or at least let them get lashed after a match!! )

But at the end of the day, he scores goals for a potentially top six side this season, and if it means we qualify for Europe at the end of this season and/or actually win something in the next two years (we can dream cant we?)…then I dont give a flying rats arse if he’s only here for the money.

I bet you the makums wish they had a mercenary like Michael Owen, rather than shite like Dwight York. C*nt!

I was having a conversation about owen with a mackem the during the england game. what he said to finish was “AT LEAST YOU HAVE OWEN, I don’t know what you’re complaining about”. exact we have owen and when he’s fit he will score us goals (probably some important ones).

He didn’t get booed on, the booing seemed more towards who he came on for when Geremi and Smith looked ripe for being removed from the team. Instead as usual it was Martins who came off. Strange how he can play with 2 small guys upfront for England but not Newcastle ?

Agreed, he is the best finisher at the club. And he can’t help being selected for his country, and i’m sure he’d want to be - honestly now that weve been punted from the league cup, England & euro 2008 would be his best shot at his next “pot to piss in”.

Go easy on the other forwards as well, i guess you were making those comments to help your story, but viduka and martins have their place. ameobi should go get some rope.

great article, so our own prawn sandwich brigade are raising their ”come lately”heads by booing owen, injurys are part of football as is playing for your country, as for getting rid, well you don’t miss something till its gone, and we will miss owen (shearer nearly 2 seasons)is the answer martins,ameobi,or a fat mercenary INJURY prone smoggie badge kisser !!!! as long as owen wears the shirt cheer&support him, as we did with shinton,reilly,mcdonald (rob), & and all the other dross who have had the temerity to play in our beloved b/w shirts and call themselves players.
please do not use the words relating to serious crime i.e. r****t when making comparisons, it is only a game,

Could not agree more. This is what I’ve been trying to say on the forums. I would love to know what Owen has done to P*** off so many fans and why he has to pledge his allegiance every five minutes so as not to be branded a mercenary, Jesus even Dyer got better treatment than Owen.
