This is exactly what we don't want at Newcastle - we need stability and sense, rather than yet another tabloid circus story. The new owners seem rational and sensible, and I like the way they're managing the club so far - reducing the debt, spending a bit on players, getting the money we deserve for the players we sell, and just being careful and sensible rather than trying to make ridiculous headlines all the time, or splashing out big money on average players (a la West Ham). In short, the team of Allardyce and Mort seems to be working - we've got a few good signings in (and there may be one or two more to come), now we need time for them to settle without ridiculous amounts of pressure and uncertainty.

A lot of posters seem to think it's all about the money they spend on players - this is just rubbish. In the Shepherd era we spent a lot of money on players, and look where it got us. It's not about Hollywood signings and staggering wads of cash, it's about building slowly and carefully and sensibly, with a long-term plan in mind, rather than constant short-term changes of faces that get us nowhere. Stick with what we've got, in short, and stop getting so impatient that you'd welcome some more strangers through the door just because they'd be willing to spend money on players (which is an unknown regardless - no one knows how much they'd be willing to part with).

Now they are saying in the Icelandic media that according to bulletproof sources Jon Asgeir is not in the group to buy Newcastle, but only Palmi Haraldsson. And yes I believe he is a fan of Newcastle and not that interested to buy Manchester City.

Yeah but Freddie Shepherd was a fan of Newcastle United, we have to remember that, but his business mind was crap. Ruined our club from the foundations. Ash and Mort are the best thing for United in that department and so is Sam Allardyce in his respective dept.

I'm not sure if it really makes all that much difference if the board changes but it would be if wholesale changes were made to the team management. Now that we've got probably the best English manager going who is building up his technical support staff and systems I'd be incredibly worried if he went because of a boardroom coup. So my take - not too bothered just so long as Sam and his team are retained. If the Icelanders are fans of the Toon then that's an advantage. I wouldn't class Mort or Ashley in that category - possibly a good business team but not fans. If the Icelanders fall into both categories then I'd be happy with that.

Well if you Google this guy Jon, Asgier, you'll get his rep but you'll also see this link:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4648259.stm

Its a BBC link saying this guy might be up on corruption charges, so NO CHANCE do we want him buying out beloved TOON!

Also, to answer someone's question above, if Man City's onwer gets time for Fraud, Man City will be relegated to the Championship, same as what happened to Juve in Serie A.

C'mon Ashley, please tell us this is NOT true!

So how much would Ashley accept for the club, if he's already rumoured to have turned down a deal that would have netted him an instant 20 million profit (which we'd all agree is hardly worth getting out of bed for)?

So, what would be better - an Ice Cool Icelander or invisible Ashley?

MAybe they'd prefer to go for someone like Man City who could be up for sale again very quickly.

If Man City's new boss, Tahksin Shinawatra is extradited by Thailand on corruption charges and they freeze his assetts, what happens to City?
